Academy creates "snooze class" for exhausted adults
If you are trying to stay in shape, but laziness does not let you go to the gym, there is a solution to your problem. The David Lloyd Gyms academy network in the United Kingdom United Kingdom has just launched the "Napercise", a class in which the main activity is sleep.
To date, the target audience of the company are fathers and mothers who are tired of intense routine, so the central goal of the academy is to provide physical and mental well-being for these people. The company was set up following the release of a survey showing that 86% of adults who have children feel constantly exhausted.
The lesson consists of 15 minutes of stretching and 45 minutes of deep sleep. But is it easy to take that nap? The environment is all prepared so that students can relax as much as possible, with comfortable beds, warm comforters, temperature control and eye mask.
Sleep has several functions essential for our body, which can combat hypertension, prevent depression and increase physical performance. Sleeping less than recommended (six to eight hours) can affect our overall health - functions we often do not imagine to be related to sleep.
However much very common to believe that puppies are great for children, scientists wanted to be sure and understand how this happens. According to the researchers, the way we learn to deal with stress as a child influences how we deal with this type of situation in adult life. For the study to be carried out, the scientists recruited about 100 families, who they came to the university lab with their dogs.
The technique is to reprogram the brain through eye movements and specific bilateral stimuli (two hemispheres of the brain). "The experiences, memories and sensations of the past, when traumatic, are registered in the mind in a negative way and full of pain. Through EMDR it is possible to verify a significant change in the way the memories are stored", explains Adriana.
