After adjusting for factors such as number of children and cause of infertility, research has pointed to a double risk of developing ovarian malignancies in women undergoing ovarian stimulation. Among the 61 women with malignant ovarian tumors the group undergoing hormonal stimulation, 31 had a borderline-type tumor (with low malignancy potential), and 30 had invasive cancer.
