After the remission, the crisis came and I weighed 34 kilograms
The year 2007 was incredible since I was able to resume my routine. When we go through difficult times, we begin to give a different value to banal things in our lives: walking, leaving the house to go to the bakery or go to the park, everything has a greater value. Not having pain is imperceptible and normal for those who do not suffer with chronic pain. But for those who go through it, a day without pain never goes unnoticed.
In college, everything went perfectly well. I played basketball, I did gymnastics, I played futsal, I exposed myself to the maximum to test my physical capacity. But every dream comes to an end and the biological medicine I used began to fail. At the end of the year, my nightmare was back. Pain, stiffness, fatigue and along with these symptoms, many vomiting.
My doctor decided to stop the medication in the month of March 2008 and said that it would give my body time to adapt without the biological and then start another medication. But how so? Why not start immediately? I lost a lot of weight. A community health agent passed by my residence and got another rheumatologist to accompany me urgently. The new rheumatologist decided to start another biological medicine immediately, and we would have to wait for about two months to get the medication. During this time, he was home to the hospital and home hospital. There were several hospitalizations in the emergency room because of the vomiting. I really could not keep anything I ate in my stomach.
When you're in the ER, it looks like whey is magic. It's always the same thing: doctors indicate a quart of serum and ask to go home. But nothing changes. My aches became worse every day, I reached 36 kilos and my food consisted only of tea, biscuits water and salt, coconut water and serum rehydration. Even so, nothing goes through the stomach. Being hospitalized for three days in the emergency room on a hard stretcher with a lot of inflammation in all joints and the bones sticking to the skin had become routine.
I started the biological medicine indicated by the rheumatologist and began to have a slight improvement of the pains, but without improvement of the gastro-stomach crisis. I fainted twice alone at home, and went to the ICU of the USP hospital for hypovolemic shock with only 34 kilos of weight. He was suspicious of Crohn's disease, but this hypothesis was ruled out.
After two days in the ICU and totaling 30 days of hospitalization using a nasoenteral feeding tube, I regained my weight. I was discharged without a diagnosis and returned home. I kept monitoring at the USP hospital and with my rheumatologist. The improvement was constant. I began an unpaid internship as a volunteer in a large institution and after 6 months I was hired as a paid trainee. All my dreams were coming true: 2009 was the turning point.
I readapted myself and started acting as a weight and swimming instructor. He trained daily. Aches? They were daily, but discreet and no need for painkillers. I was able to expose my body to the maximum amount of physical effort in bodybuilding and I reached 62 kilos. I was very strong and had reached the peak of my fitness at age 30.
When the sun shines bright in the sky and it is possible to feel it, it burns the skin, you must already imagine what can not be missing at all: the sunscreen. The problem is that the sun's rays can be harmful even on those days when the sun is more timid or even if you are protected from daylight, which leaves your skin vulnerable in the most diverse situations.
Brazil is experiencing one of the worst periods of drought in many decades, especially in the North and Midwest. Brasília, the federal capital that historically suffers from drought periods, has equaled its historical record of 10% relative humidity, only observed in the deserts around the world. Relative humidity is understood as the amount of water vapor present in the atmosphere we breathe.
