Biological glue is new trap for Aedes

Biological glue is new trap for Aedes

Students and professors of the Olinda Medical School (FMO), in Pernambuco, have created a biological glue that works as a trap for the Aedes aegypti mosquito. The material is extracted from the Braunna plant and holds the mosquito. The plan of the students who participated in the faculty's scientific initiation project is to put that glue on existing mechanical barriers, such as screens and mosquito nets, and let the Aedes get stuck in them.

The idea was inspired by similar traps used in Tanzania and Zambia, African countries that use biological glues against mosquitoes such as Culex and Onofre , which transmit malaria. The sap of the Braunna, a common tree in the region of Cariri, a border of Ceará and Pernambuco, produces a glue that can maintain the adhesive effect for between 90 and 120 days.

The plan is to test this glue in the community of Peixinhos, of Olinda, where there is a higher rate of mosquito infestation in the city, according to the Aedes aegypti (LIRAa) Rapid Survey of the Infestation Index of Aedes aegypti

Open wounds and painful mouth injuries are not only disturbing - they can be a symptom of serious illness or disorder. Consult your dentist for any mouth sore that lasts longer than a week. Thrush and herpes are the most common types of mouth sores. Thrills are small ulcers with a white or gray base and a red border that are not contagious and appear inside the mouth.
