Open wounds and painful mouth injuries are not only disturbing - they can be a symptom of serious illness or disorder. Consult your dentist for any mouth sore that lasts longer than a week. Thrush and herpes are the most common types of mouth sores.

Thrills are small ulcers with a white or gray base and a red border that are not contagious and appear inside the mouth. The exact cause of canker sores is not known, but some experts believe they are caused by immune system problems. Thrills can be triggered by viral infection, fatigue, stress or allergies. If you suffer from canker sores, topical anesthetics sold over-the-counter and mouthwash antimicrobials may promote temporary relief. Staying away from hot, spicy or acidic foods that may irritate the wound may also help. Consult your dentist if your canker sores do not heal within a week or are sore.

June 18 is the "D-Day" vaccination against childhood paralysis

On Saturday, June 18, the Unified Health System (SUS) carries out the first stage of the National Polio Vaccination Campaign (children's paralysis) for children under five years of age. The goal of the campaign is to protect the child population against the disease before the holiday period. In all, 115,000 health posts across the country should operate from 9am to 5pm and more than 350,000 health professionals will be mobilized.
