Gaining muscles: is it better to eat the whole egg or just the whites?

Gaining muscles: is it better to eat the whole egg or just the whites?

Have you heard that the egg white is one of the best sources of protein for the muscles to grow and that the yolk should be discarded because it would leave the meal with a very high amount of fat. But, is this true? This was the starting point of the study by researchers at the University of Illinois in the United States.

The analysis was performed with 10 men who performed resistance training. In the post-training, part of the group ate whole eggs (containing 18 grams of protein and 17 grams of fat) and the others ate only the whites (18 grams of protein and no fat). was done by blood tests and muscle analysis, in order to verify the amino acids in the circulation and the muscle production resulting from exercise and feeding.

The first conclusion was that the eggs, with the yolk or not, offer the same amount of amino acids for the body. So the researchers measured how protein synthesis in the muscles is done in both cases, and the result was unexpected: ingesting the whole egg after exercise is much more efficient for building muscle mass.

Participants who ate the egg in post-workout had a 40% higher rate on the ability to generate muscle compared to those who ate only the whites. The conclusion was that gem contains substances that are not present in the clear and that somehow help the body to process the proteins in the increase and recovery muscle.

Only one milk shake may already raise heart attack risk

A single high-fat milk shake may be responsible for triggering various heart problems. This is because excessive fat intake can make it harder for our blood vessels to relax, increasing the risk of high blood pressure and making people more likely to suffer heart attacks. A study by the Georgia College of Medicine in the United States noted that just four hours after consuming a milk shake made with whole milk, whipped cream and ice cream, healthy young men had their blood vessels stiffened, in addition to an immune response resembling responses from infections.
