When we talk about the application of the substance, there are no studies indicating if it is safe or not for pregnant women and infants. In the first trimester of pregnancy this use is prohibited, but after that there is no absolute contraindication. Since it is generally aesthetic, it can only be done after authorization from the obstetrician in charge.
The use of creams with hyaluronic acid in their composition does not present a hazard if used according to the instructions of each manufacturer. Applying the substance directly to the skin can cause problems when the procedure is poorly done or the product is of a dubious quality. Therefore, it is important to perform the procedure in a reliable location.
It is common for some adverse reactions to appear after the application, such as transient erythema, edema, pain, pruritus, bruising, discoloration or tenderness at the injection site. Usually the resolution is spontaneous, within a day or two after application.
