Nail biting can be a difficult habit to give up, but if you do not give up, your dental health may suffer much more than your manicure.
According to the Academy of General Dentistry, children or adults who chew nails can fracture, chip or wear their anterior teeth because of the stress caused by the habit. And those using orthodontic appliances create an even greater risk of root resorption (a root shortening) or dental loss, as the appliances already expose the teeth to increased pressure.

Cases of mumps in São Paulo increased exorbitantly. According to data from the Municipal Health Department, there was a 336% increase between the first nine months of 2016, compared to the same period last year. The Coordination of Health Surveillance (Covisa) found that of the day January 1 to October 1 of this year, 1,234 cases of the disease were recorded, while in 2015 the number was only 283.
Preliminary data from a study released on Monday (27 ) by the Ministry of Health indicate a prevalence of 54.6% of HPV cases among the Brazilian population from 16 to 25 years old, 38.4% of which is a high risk for the development of cancer. The results of the POP project -Brasil-Epidemiological Study on the National Prevalence of HPV Infection was presented at an event held at the Federal University of Health Sciences of Porto Alegre.
