New silicone prostheses leave the most natural-looking breast

New silicone prostheses leave the most natural-looking breast

Last month I published here in the Portal Minha Vida the beginning of an article entitled "News in Plastic Surgery". The first of these advances referred to laser liposuction, also called SlimLipo. Continuing the issues proposed in that article, I will speak today about a new format of breast prosthesis, called a conic format.

Conical prostheses, unlike the round ones (the most common ones) have a larger projection if we compare prostheses of the same volume. This means that they have a narrower base. But what does this mean in terms of aesthetic outcome? That is to say, the patients get more projected breasts without necessarily placing large volumes. This also means that tapered prostheses mark the cervix less, thus offering a more natural result, difficult to say whether it is a breast operated or not. Since there is a great influence of the patient's own breast shape on the final result, these new prostheses also allowed a better adaptation.

Of course, each person seeks a different result, something that solves their problem not only in body but also in dissatisfaction with their own body. Many patients are still looking for the classic, round shape, because it fills the cervix more, even at the risk of becoming more marked, more evident. And other people are looking for a bigger projection without marking the lap.

The great advance is then to inform the public that the prostheses have become "customizable", that is, we no longer choose only the volume but also the shape of the breast , according to our needs and shape of the body itself (especially the thoracic region). As there is a great influence of the shape of the patient's own breasts on the final result, these new prostheses also allowed a better adaptation of the prosthesis.

Other types of prosthesis

In addition to the conical shape, it is worth mentioning the prostheses that are neither round nor conical.

Anatomical format:

This format has a more elongated or wider base depending on the patient's height and thorax. It is very useful for people who are very tall or very low, or who have larger breasts, needing an equally wide prosthesis. Natural profile:

This type of prosthesis has a round base, but the profile makes a? soft that descends to the tip of the breast and then closes more abruptly. The natural profile is also more erased in relation to the cervix, making it difficult to perceive that the patient had the sinuses operated. As it is emptier at the top, the patient needs to have mammary gland in this part. The demand for this profile is still low, after all who wants to operate feels the need to have more volume and mark the new breasts, and not have such a low result. Polyurethane prosthesis:

One last news on breast prostheses is a new coating that instead of being made of silicone is made of polyurethane. The gel inside the prosthesis remains the same, of Cohesive Silicone, not liquid, but what changed was the outer membrane. According to the manufacturer, this external material has no risk of capsular contracture, and there is even a guarantee of replacement of the prosthesis if this occurs. The only disadvantage is the higher cost and greater difficulty of removing the prosthesis if the patient wants to change volume in the future. But these disadvantages are compensated by the impossibility of capsular contracture. This occurs in the prostheses with textured silicone membranes, but they have an incidence lower and lower. As can be seen, the novelties are many, even when dealing with a single subject such as breast prostheses. In a recent interview on TV, I stated that just by going to the consultation the patient could have an idea of everything that is new about plastic surgery. The internet is very good for the first information, but it is not the last resort. I realize that people are stalling the trip to the Plastic Surgeon and after they operate they regret not having done it before. Choose a good plastic surgeon - who is part of the Brazilian Association of Plastic Surgery -, check the consultation and do not forget to go.

A world of possibilities can be discovered. In 15 days we will bring you news about the application of Botulinum Toxin.

Until the next article.

Bioplasty: Know the dangers of filling with PMMA

Bioplasty: Know the dangers of filling with PMMA

Bioplasty is the name that some specialists give to fill with PMMA, a material that fills volumes of tissue, used by some in fills that alter some body shapes. It is called "plastic surgery without a scalpel", but it is actually a filler and is therefore considered an aesthetic treatment. PMMA is a type of plastic that should be applied in small quantities mainly due to low quality of some of its products on the market.
