The study was conducted by the University of Alabama at Birmingham, England. The study recruited 70 adult participants, 39 of whom were between 60 and 75 and 31, between 20 and 35. In the four months of study, everyone did the same exercises three times a week. In the second phase, it was analyzed how much muscle was lost due to inactivity or decreased exercise frequency. At the end of the analysis, the differences were remarkable. The results showed that the younger group that decreased exercise showed little or no muscle reduction. Already the members of the other group lost part of their muscle mass by reducing training.

According to the researchers, the loss of muscle as you age is one of the most challenging processes in biomedicine. However, staying active with exercises such as weight-lifting is the best way to prevent it.
