Researchers find on which day people have more insomnia
If you are the type of people who usually have insomnia on Sunday evening, that you are not alone. A new study shows Sunday is actually the worst night-time week in terms of sleep quality. The Calm.com meditation application surveyed a group of 4,279 Americans and Britons, and of these participants, 49% said that Sunday is the worse night of the week to sleep. Second came Monday with 17% of votes as the worst night to sleep.
On the other hand, Thursday was voted the best night to sleep. With only 5 percent of respondents reporting insomnia overnight.
"Sunday may be the day of rest, but it's the night of restlessness," said Michael Acton Smith, co-founder of the application, in a press release. "Thursday, by contrast, looks like a real night's rest."
Psychologist Steve Orma, who specializes in insomnia, believes that the reason people sleep so poorly on a Sunday is likely to be related to weekend schedules which can definitely alter the sleep routine. Sunday night insomnia may also be due to anxiety that many people feel about returning to work on Monday.
