Rio de Janeiro receives first-place street race

The highlight is a line of different arrival, that does not "wait" the competitors at the end of the route, as usually happens in other races. At Wings For Life World Run, participants start without a set distance goal. Thirty minutes after the last runner starts the race, a car called a "Catcher Car" or car chase will start the race, increasing the speed gradually. The last participant who is passed by the car will be the winner of the race. Last year, the global winner was the Swedish wheelchair-bound Aron Anderson, who has covered more than 90 kilometers.

In its fifth edition in Brazil, the event will begin at the same time in Rio de Janeiro and in cities of other countries, such as Austria Croatia, Switzerland and the United States, regardless of the time zone. To participate in the global race, just sign up for the official Wings For Life World Run website, which costs R $ 150 per participant. All the amount collected will be reverted to research that seeks to cure spinal cord injuries. Created in 2014, the initiative has already achieved more than 20 million euros to finance the studies.
