Sex: Can Pelvic Exercises Increase Pleasure To Two?

Some couples may not know, but pelvic floor muscles play an important role in the sexual function of men and women, and may even facilitate orgasm.

The pelvic floor muscles, also known as the perineum, are located in the lower part of the pelvis and extend from the pubic bone to the coccyx from side to side.

How the pelvic floor muscles act

In women, the perineum equals the area that goes from the clitoris to the anus. It is composed of several muscles, among them the bulbocavernosus and the ischecavernous muscles. They are responsible for promoting the erection of the clitoris and reducing the vaginal opening, thereby increasing the contact of the vagina with the penis during intercourse.

Besides being important in orgasm, these muscles perform urinary and fecal control, participate in significant in childbirth and support all pelvic organs.

In men, the perineum equals the area from the scrotal sac to the anus. In them, the bulbocavernosus muscles envelop the penis and its contraction aids in the maintenance of the erection. It is also worth noting that complaints associated with changes in these muscles include erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation (in men), vaginal looseness, vaginismus, and vagina.

Exercising the pelvic floor muscles

The pelvic floor muscles can be exercised in any daily situation.

Two ways to exercise them can be given below. It is important to remember that the scientific literature emphasizes that exercise supervised by the pelvic physiotherapist is more effective. So in case of doubt or any sexual, urinary, fecal, or postpartum dysfunction, do not hesitate to look for a specialist.

1. Contract and release

Sit with feet flat on the floor and legs slightly apart. Tilt your torso a little forward. Quickly contract the pelvic floor muscles without using the abdomen to help and without holding your breath. Rest three seconds apart.

Do ten repetitions, three times a day.

2. Sustained contraction

In the same position, contract the muscles of the pelvic floor and hold the contraction, without help of the abdomen and without arresting the air. Count how long you can sustain it. Make a contraction and rest for the same period. (Ex: if it lasted six seconds, also rest six seconds until the next one.)

Do ten repetitions, three times a day.

When not doing the pelvic floor exercises

of the pelvic floor when urinating, as it may impair the complete emptying of the bladder.

Through different techniques the foreskin tissue is removed and a circular suture is performed between the skin and the remaining mucosa.
