Some habits impair the formation of baby teeth

At this time of the year, when there is a celebration centuries with the same gratitude and reflection the birth of Jesus, I use to write some lines about some questions that can be myths or truths when we think of the teeth in our little ones.

Stress is part of the daily life and, thus like sleep, is often unmanageable: when it comes, it gets hard to beat! Many social and social situations go through complex moments that tend to create psychosomatic illnesses, or even psychological illnesses that make the days heavier and longer.

In this way, pleasurable situations tend to be more scarce, many people end up appealing to alcohol or cigarettes to have fun in meetings between friends and family, as these products act in the production of the famous serotonins and dopamides responsible for joy and happiness. And for those more prisoners the famous "happiness pills," the anti-depressant and anxiolytic drugs.

But, what does this have to do with baby dentistry? It is in these moments of joy between friends and family that the pretension to have children can arise, leaving aside the most varied contraceptive methods to make everything more beautiful and surprised. In addition, many couples do not abandon some of these habits, such as alcohol and cigarette smoking, during the gestation period, which can bring some problems to the fetus.

The first moments after fertilization are key to development of many body systems: skeleton, brain, heart. In fact, in the first three months of gestation all the organs and systems of the fetus are formed, including the teeth, which are conceptualized as an organ, since they can be defined as a set of tissues that organized by cells form a functional system.

Because of the nausea and the greater amount of food eaten during the first few months, the pregnant woman is more prone to have cavities.

Looking at the situation from this perspective, cigarette and alcohol are the main factors that cause a deformity known as "cleft lip", or technically speaking: cleft lip, palatal and nasal. In the three months from the middle of gestation these parts of the body develop and increase in size, and finally in the last three months these organs are finalized.

The first moments of pregnancy are so important that there is a recommendation from the World Health Organization which advises pregnant women who require medical, surgical or anesthetic treatment to perform these procedures within three months of gestation, so that these drugs do not provoke the malformation of organs and human body systems, which occur mainly during the first three months, or anticipate birth.

Just as there are care that must be taken by the pregnant woman during gestation, there are also myths that make women even more frightened by their state of health.

One of them is that the fetus removes calcium from the bones to form the teeth. This is a very good spreading myth. But how to explain susceptibility to caries during this phase? Well, what happens in the first weeks of pregnancy are successive moments of nausea and even vomiting causing a true imbalance of buccal pH and saliva, weakening the layer that covers the dental enamel generating small erosions and whitish regions called demineralization. Another situation that promotes the appearance of carious cavitations is the fact that the pregnant woman eats more frequently to nourish her system and help in the adequate development of the fetus. What occurs in this situation is that the saliva needs something around one to two hours for the salivary and buccal pH to return to its normal. And since the pregnant woman tends to eat at all times, the pH is always acid weakening the mother's dental structure. But, what to do to avoid or reduce the possibility of tooth injuries, in the enamel? Simple: balanced diet, many fruits, vegetables and stimulation through the masticatory movements producing enough saliva and high quality, associating a correct brushing that your dentist can guide the correct movements, more appropriate brush and dentifrice (paste, cream, gel, liquid) .

So if you intend to have children or recommend some useful information to your friends, these are some cautions and myths about the relationship between the pregnant woman's teeth and the fetus and the consumption of certain substances.

Dog helps to identify cancer in 3-year-old girl

It is not today that the dog is known as man's best friend, protecting him from visible threats or not. This is what happened to the 3-year-old girl, Pippa Woods, who, thanks to her Border Collie, Bessie, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in May. It all started when her bitch began to act strangely around the girl.

Assisted Hatching: facilitating the implantation of the embryo

The term "hatching" means in English the moment the embryo implants itself in the womb, by breaking the zona pellucida that surrounds it. Many embryos, however, can not make this break alone and so do not fix and cause miscarriage. The technique was first described in a study published in 1991 and developed throughout the 1990s.
