Oral surgery is never fun, but a new study reveals that giving postoperative pain is safer than ever. The study, which was developed by the Cochrane Collaboration, a group that conducts systematic reviews regarding the effectiveness of health interventions, concluded that paracetamol is a safe and effective analgesic in the postoperative of wisdom tooth extraction.

Paracetamol is an analgesic (sold without a prescription) used to relieve fever, headaches and other minor pains. The Cochrane Collaboration came to this conclusion after examining data from 21 randomized controlled trials that studied more than 1,900 patients to determine the optimal paracetamol dose and the optimal time interval for drug administration in pain relief after extraction of the wisdom tooth .
