Yoga practice relieves pains of rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia
Emirates Arthritis Foundation , in the United Arab Emirates, and presented at the Annual Congress of the European League Against Rheumatism showed that patients with rheumatoid arthritis had significant improvements in pain with yoga practice. To reach the conclusion, 47 patients were analyzed, and 26 practiced yoga. The mean age of the group of patients who practiced yoga was 44 years, while those who did not practice, 46 years, with 80% being women.
Before and after the sessions, the demographic data, activity indexes disease and quality of life. After 12 sessions of Raj Yoga, which is one of the softer styles, combining exercise and breathing techniques, participants showed significant improvements in disease activity rates. Most patients with rheumatoid arthritis do not exercise regularly.
Another study also showed positive results from the practice of yoga among patients with fibromyalgia. After eight sessions of classical yoga, which combines gentle positions of yoga, breathing techniques and meditation, the quality of life and anxiety of these carriers has improved significantly. As anxiety is often a key symptom in patients with this disease, the study represents a positive step in improving the lives of people suffering from fibromyalgia.
Find peace of body and mind with yoga
With yoga, it is possible to align body and mind, achieving peace and balance. "Through breathing exercises and concentration, the heart rate decreases giving a sense of relaxation," says psychologist Sofia Karnakis.
The benefits of moving to the formation of balancing postures in yoga are numerous: decreased anxiety, increased ability to concentrate, body and mind balance, and slower and deeper breathing (which helps oxygenate the body). In addition, the practice contributes aesthetically, as the body becomes stiffer, elasticity increases, and body awareness is gained.
Now, if the goal is not to measure efforts to get a belly healed, the Physical Education teacher and instructor of practice Samara Queiroz confirms: "Doing yoga strengthens - and a lot - the abdominal region". Known for providing a physical and mental balance, this oriental technique is more than a simple meditation. "It helps to improve breathing, working various postures and requiring a concentrated effort in a special muscle: the abdomen," he explains.
Leaving aside sedentary lifestyle is not easy. For many people, this can mean a significant change in their lives. There is a change in behavior, habits and social life. The first step is to get motivated. Do something that gives you the courage to get started. It soon comes to mind to walk, but it is not just the walk that we can use to get out of sedentary lifestyle.
Capoeira can not be defined in a single concept . This is because it can be considered a sport, a fight or a cultural manifestation. The main point of capoeira is that it is an Afro-Brazilian manifestation. There are two types of capoeira: capoeira regional and angola. The regional capoeira, created by Mestre Bimba, incorporates elements of other martial fights and creates normal, a sequence of blows and a methodology of teaching.
